Is Online Video Games Good For Teens?

Online video games refer to any video game that can be played via the Internet and/or any other computer network. The popularity of online games in recent years has been immense, as most people are constantly connected to the Internet. Games on the Internet can either be free-to-play or pay-to-play. Many online games require registration and login to play them, while some can be downloaded for free. A major trend that emerged with online video gaming is the so-called self-isolation. Self-isolation is a situation where one player completely isolates himself from the other players in an online multiplayer game, sometimes for several reasons. The most common reason for self-isolation is related to a conflict between two players. It could also be a game scenario in which one team is trying to destroy the other, or take over a portion of the game world by occupying the majority of it with their character (self-isolation). For example, in Counter-Strike, one player (the CT) keeps taking over the bombsite by hiding behind it and shooting anyone who comes within range.

Self-isolation in online video games also has a much more sinister meaning. Some have argued that it is the same thing as playing with a “helper” – someone who is assisting you in your online games, but they are not controlled by you and therefore cannot be harmed or killed. Others feel this is similar to playing a role, as in the popular game Mass Effect 3 when you are helping another character by guiding him through a complex maze. If you are playing a character in an online video game, then he is your character. You have complete control over him.

Is there anyway for teens to play video games? Not really. Many teens find that the gaming industry attracts them because it allows them to use high-end video games that have graphic content, advanced technologies, and many other features that only an enthusiast would expect. For example, many video games now feature the option of using real guns, instead of the classic wands that are used in older titles. Even though guns may not seem especially attractive to teens, they do have a purpose in the video games.

Networked gaming requires that players be able to connect with others who are playing video games at the same time. In order for this to happen, teens must have friends they know in person who they can regularly interact with. Teens need to play with friends they trust and can talk with on a regular basis. Teens are social by nature, and if they can’t regularly connect with friends they know in person they are more likely to choose online games. If teens cannot play networked games with their friends in person, they will miss out on the chance to improve their skills with an interesting hobby.

Teens, especially teen boys, report that they spend twice as much time playing computer and video games as they do with their friends. Teens can benefit from a fun hobby that involves interactive communication with others. In addition, if teens enjoy the freedom of being able to communicate with others even when they are thousands of miles apart, then they are more likely to want to play networked games. In addition, if video games lead to improved hand-eye coordination, then teens stand to gain from playing them over again.
