The Dry Herb Vaporizer – Heating or Not?

A dry herb vaporizer is essentially a device that heats dry herbs with a heated plate to produce a gas (steam) which contains the entire plant material inside. The unique flavors and scents of the dried herb are extracted during this process, and therefore users of this kind of vaporizer will surely feel the wonderful effects when inhaling the steam. You can place the herb in the unit which has a basket or cup for carrying where you can put the vaporizer or you can also use a towel. To avoid causing damage to your food or water, you should handle only dry herb vaporizers that are very light in weight. Otherwise, if the herb is wet, it may cause the unit to break down.

This product has been especially designed for people who are interested in using concentrates. However, you should note that many experts have advised that it is not a good choice to use dry herbs with concentrates. Why? Because the oils from the concentrate will tend to rise to the top rather than going through the whole vapor path. This will lead to a clogged vapor pathway and to an inexperienced user the finished concentrate may be too strong in flavor.

In general dry herb vaporizers are divided into three categories: the cone, the bag and the glass. The cone is made with a long cylinder and its external casing is made out of clear glass. On the other hand, the bag and glass concentrate are the most popular ones since they are easy to carry and you can see what’s inside them. It has a small mouthpiece which can be used to push the herbs through the tube and it usually comes with a vibrator, a heat button and a battery.

A common myth about dry herb vaporizer’s heat up the air around the herbs; however, this is not true. The only thing that happens is that the herbs get heated slightly and some of them can also be burned. However, the amount of heat reaching your lungs is so minimal that it would not affect you in any way.

There is one point to be aware of. When the herb gets heated it may also release some of its oils into the air. These oils may contain a lot of and may become a major irritant to persons suffering from respiratory ailments. Therefore, if you suffer from bronchitis or asthma, then it would be a better choice to choose a different kind of concentrates to use with your dry herb vaporizer. It would be wise to consult with a medical practitioner before trying any new equipment like this one.

However, there are many people who swear by the use of concentrates when they are cooking. They say that using the dry herb vaporizer gives you an extra kick that your regular cooking stove cannot give. Some even swear that the product does give them more energy when they consume it. So, which is better? Well, it depends on what you prefer.
